CAMP INFORMATION
Daily activities of Tutti Chamber Music will take place at Wheaton Chinese Alliance Church in Wheaton, IL. Activities will begin on Monday, June 22nd and end Saturday, June 27th with a final concert by campers for family and friends. Each day begins at 9 AM with hymn singing and devotionals and ends at 5 PM, with a lunch break and snack time in the middle. Campers will need to bring their own lunches, but a light afternoon snack is provided.
Each young musician will be placed in a chamber group (3-6 players) based on skill level and age compatibility with other students. Placement will happen before camp and music will be sent out ahead of time so that notes are learned before arrival. We prioritize standard group placements (string quartets, piano trios, etc.) and building strong ensemble skills through the standard repertoire.
CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
A small chamber orchestra made of side-by-side faculty and campers will rehearse throughout the week. The orchestra will accompany a soloist and play a chamber orchestra piece at the final concert.
CONCERTO COMPETITION
A concerto competition for campers will be held on a Saturday in June TBD. One winner will perform with the camp string chamber orchestra, and the runner-up(s) may either perform with piano at a run-out concert or have a possible reading session with a faculty quartet. Those interested will audition live for a judge the week before camp begins.
SERVICE PROJECTS
Tutti Chamber Music seeks to build community-minded students, and with that in mind, we will spend a day at various nursing homes and hospitals performing our chamber pieces for different audiences. Other service projects may include preparing daily items for the needy and doing small practical projects.
LESSONS, PERFORMANCE, AND TECHNIQUE
Tutti Chamber Music believes that beautiful ensemble playing begins with strong individual musicianship. To that end, each student receives 2 lessons over the course of the week (teacher preferences can be notated on the application form). We will also offer instrument-specific technique sessions and performance classes. Please bring a polished piece that is ready to perform. A few students will be chosen to play a solo at one of the public masterclasses per recommendation by the faculty.

FAQ's
Is Tutti a Christian Camp?
Tutti was founded with the intent to share the good news of the gospel and encourage students in their faith. The faculty is entirely comprised of Christian musicians. However, Tutti is not an exclusive "church" camp; all faiths are welcome! Just know that the faculty are praying for each student and that we want to both celebrate and acknowledge God as the source of our music!
What is Hymn Sing?
Hymn Sing is a time to connect as a community each morning. We believe that music is a gift from God and that as stewards of that gift, we are called to pursue excellence and also a grace of giving (2 Cor. 8:7). All faith backgrounds are definitely welcome at Tutti, although all faculty come from a distinctly Christian perspective, and we hope to encourage one another in this time through worship and topical explorations of music in today's world!
My child has sports practice late in the afternoon. Is partial attendance ok?
Because our camp is centered around chamber music, where each person plays an invaluable role in their assigned ensemble, we do not allow for partial attendance. When you are committing to come to camp, you are committing to the full day. We understand that emergencies do come up, and if you have a special circumstance, please talk to the director about your situation! Email [email protected] with any questions. We are more than happy to work with you through special scenarios.
My child will only be able to attend for part of the week and can't make the final concert. Can he or she still apply?
Each student has a unique part in a group. You will be assigned to a group where all members can be present at the final performance. There may be an additional performance on Friday to accommodate students who cannot be present over the weekend. However, please contact us about your unique scenario before applying!
